講者經歷:

Prof. Shenqyang (Steven) Shy is currently a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Institute of Energy Engineering at National Central University, Jhong-li District, Tao-yuan City, Taiwan. Prof. Shy received a Doctoral degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the University of Washington, Seattle, USA in 1990. He held a postdoctoral research position in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Princeton University, NJ, USA for about two years and later a position as Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at National Central University before assuming his full professorship at NCU in 1997. Prof. Shy served as the Director of the Center for Energy Research in the College of Engineering at National Central University from 2003 to 2014. Prof. Shy has extensive research experience in various research fields, including (1) mixing in stratified flows and cloud-top entrainment instability for geophysical fluid dynamics, (2) two-phase turbulence with an emphasis on particle settling in laboratory isotropic turbulence and its associated turbulence modification, (3) four-dimensional highspeed, high-resolution particle imaging velocimetry for fine-scale measurements, (4) experimental investigations of solid oxide fuel cells, and (5) premixed turbulent combustion studying dynamics of ignition, flame propagation, and flame global quench, as can be seen from his publication list below. Currently, Prof. Shy focuses on two research fields. (1) Premixed turbulent combustion in high-temperature, high-pressure, high-Reynolds-number environment relevant to engine and gas turbine conditions. (2) Pressurized solid oxide fuel cells and its integration with micro gas turbines for future hybrid clean power generation. His research is conducted in both the Combustion Physics Laboratory and the Energy and Environment Laboratory at National Central University. Prof. Shy has published over 70 technical papers in peer-reviewed journals, made nearly 100 technical presentations at international conferences (including 20 invited or keynote speeches), and held several US, Japanese and Taiwanese patents, including a hydrogen-rich low NOx burner.
